Flag Dogs
JUNE 14, 2016
Today is Flag Day.

So declared by Woodrow Wilson

For on June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress
adopted the first American flag by passing a resolution saying,
“Resolved, That the flag of the thirteen United States be thirteen stripes,
alternate red and white;
that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field,
representing a new constellation.”

And few know...
that the colors red, white, and blue/black
are Alchemical colors
and symbolize transformation.
Carl Jung spoke of these colors including a forth- yellow,
as the symbols of individuation,
the merging of ego and self into an enlightened being...

No where else in history
could we use some of that intent of transformation
than now.

Some leap in consciousness,
in peace, in love and acceptance of all our differences
so that we can move forward into this beautiful world that we share
and regain faith in the goodness of our being human...

So today,
Leo and Rusty
proudly wore their flag scarves,
gifts from dear friends this past week.

I missed posting about their birthday,
which was this past May 29th. They are now five years old.
Where does the time go...

Into the red, white, and blue
dawn...

"a new constellation..."

Labyrinths provide us with a path to practice change. Some labyrinths have withstood the passage of time for thousands of years. Others are here for just an afternoon, drawn in the sand at the edge of the ocean. Many modern labyrinths were meant to last for years, but because of unforeseen circumstances their time is shorter than intended. And they once again help us to practice letting go and giving thanks for the time they are with us. The Labyrinth of Life at the Sebastopol, California Teen Center reached such place of letting go and is at the end of one chapter and the beginning of another chapter that is yet unknown.

Sometimes... a labyrinth can take years to become a physical reality. In 2018 I met with my friend Deb, to discuss her desire to have a labyrinth on the beautiful land she lives on. Despite our plans and several meetings, listening to the land and finding the right spot, the labyrinth did not come to fruition. Fast-forward five years and in the blink of an eye... it happened!
