My Mother's Day...
MAY 13, 2007
I so love my mother...
She not only gave the greatest gift of life,
but she is one of my best friends...
I wrote this poem for her two years ago...
_Mom..._
_This feather…_
_Bird on your wrist,_
_reins in hand,_
_lion on your shield_
_remembers_
_connections,_
_communication,_
_and the importance of_
_being_
_steward of the land…_
_Oak tree speaks,_
_listen…_
_Alchemy of grape_
_and vine_
_is but the journey of soul_
_and this very moment_
_when all roads meet_
_and the way_
_opens_
_and our hearts_
_breathe_
_the freedom of flight,_
_of golden speech,_
_of finding our place_
_in this world_
_at this time_
_of passing,_
_when we step into the_
_brilliance_
_of being…_
My mom is truly an amazing person,
and I don't just say this because she's my mom!
Just ask anyone who knows her
and they will tell you how she brings such joy
into the lives of those she touches...
She makes me so laugh,
and we go places you would not believe
in our conversations...
So for her and for you...
My wish for you this Mother's Day
is that all your days be filled with bouquets of beauty
like these peonies
from the yard of our dear friend and neighbor,
Alice Waco...

Labyrinths provide us with a path to practice change. Some labyrinths have withstood the passage of time for thousands of years. Others are here for just an afternoon, drawn in the sand at the edge of the ocean. Many modern labyrinths were meant to last for years, but because of unforeseen circumstances their time is shorter than intended. And they once again help us to practice letting go and giving thanks for the time they are with us. The Labyrinth of Life at the Sebastopol, California Teen Center reached such place of letting go and is at the end of one chapter and the beginning of another chapter that is yet unknown.

Sometimes... a labyrinth can take years to become a physical reality. In 2018 I met with my friend Deb, to discuss her desire to have a labyrinth on the beautiful land she lives on. Despite our plans and several meetings, listening to the land and finding the right spot, the labyrinth did not come to fruition. Fast-forward five years and in the blink of an eye... it happened!
